The Green Thumb

Flowers In Bloom
For the last nine months my mother and I have been in gardening mode. I recently had my small courtyard re-landscaped so keeping the plants alive and thriving has been a challenge. I'm no green thumb but thankfully my mother is a horticulturist, landscaper, and plant whisperer in disguise. Talk about wonder woman! We spent our whole Sunday afternoon plant positioning, replanting, and weeding. Well, to be honest, mum did. I learnt that I was great at supervising and daydreaming about what this will all look like in spring.

Here's a sneak peak {have you noticed how beautiful the colours blend together in flowers? I'm not surprised to see so many floral prints in both today's streetstyle and runway trends}

Tribute To Elie

Elie Saab

It is award season for the glitterati; red carpet fashion is in full swing. It also happens to be wedding season again in my little world, with another dear frien
d getting married in March. Which means couture couture couture! So in the spirit of jaw dropping gorgeous gowns I thought what better way to share with you my favourite pieces from renowned fashion house: Elie Saab

The Spring Summer 2012 collection was recently shown, and as each season approaches (especially this one) I am left amazed once again. Let's get lost in the beauty, the delicate detailing, and the divine privilege of being a woman!

I know it's not a gown but a jump suit - but it's still Elie Saab.

I Crave The Sun!

The great thing...nay...the best thing about Summer is the fact that you can spend a whole day at the beach or laze around the pool. But alas the sun seems a bit shy lately; hiding behind grey depressing clouds. Come out come out where ever you are! My pretty new swimsuit from Zimmermann needs to get a good dose of vitamin D!

Here are a few more of my favourites from the label's swimwear collection. They are absolutely adorable. There's a touch of old world glamour to the cut of this summer's collection (especially the onesies). The ladies on the beach have returned and are here to stay!

Pretty Phalanges

What better way to express yourself than to paint your nails!
I recently bought (well it was free using my David Jones AMEX rewards card) a bottle of OPI nail polish in a reddish-coral colour. It's really hard to explain as I noticed it changes a few shades depending on the light (how subtle). Now you really can't buy much out of a $20 gift card so I've decided to use those freebies to start investing in nail polish! A 15ml bottle only costs $19.95. Sounds logical no?!

I'm loving the brights at the moment. Well it is Spring after all! Which colour will you be wearing?
This is the colour I bought over the weekend. You like?
In the not so distant future these too will be mine!!

McQueen

Sarah Burton what can I say. Lee Alexander McQueen would be proud; very proud.
Here are my favourite pieces from the fashion house presented at Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011-12 show. I'll let the pictures do the talking. But know this, the Alexander McQueen woman is super fierce.

Pièce de Résistance

Wow! Paris Fashion Week never fails to amaze me each year, each season! Here's a few of my favourites from Spring/Summer 2011-12.

Valentino: Another beautiful ethereal collection from the fashion house. Definitely still in safe hands since the original grand master retired back in 2008.
Chanel: Karl Lagerfeld proves once again why he has led the industry for six decades.
Louis Vuitton: Marc Jacobs keeps to his playful, youthful side.
Collette Dinnigan: Continues to amaze me with her use of delicate lace.

Santa Came Early - very early

For a long time now I've been on the hunt for a new swimsuit for spring/summer. But alas never really found the wow factor in the numerous designs available in store. Until now - Zimmermann's collection for SS 2011/12 was simply outstanding! Flicking through the online catalogues and look-books I came across this stunning floral paisley print; it was enough for me to organise a trip to the CBD store to try it on (I'm still a loyal fan to the physical shopping experience and besides I hadn't seen my favourite shop assistant Vella in ages)! I originally tried on the bikini option but it was disappointing and unflattering for my shape. Dismayed but still hopeful I thought I'd try the one piece (because the print was just beautiful; I had to have it). Normally I'm not a one piece fan as it reminds me of high school swim lessons but once I tried on the one piece I knew it was an instant WINNER!

What do you think of my very early Christmas present to myself?

London Calling

LFW for Spring/Summer 2011-12 recently finished last week on the 21st September. There's something so unique about London fashion which I can't put my finger on it. This spring/summer season London brought out a sense of soft femininity but in a Rock n Roll I don't give a flying F*** kind of look. Not that this is a new concept for London fashion but it has evolved over the years; embracing more colour.

The colours for spring that came out this season wasn't your usual boring pastels; but you're rich colours of plum, cherry, mustard yellow, peach, olive green - a complete reverse from what we saw in the previous season where it was pop colour - blinding
passer bys by the magnificent bright hues!
London fashion certainly is a creative force to be reckoned with!

Here are a few of my personal favourites:

LFW SS 11/12: Burberry Prorsum
LFW SS 11/12: Christopher Kane

LFW SS 11/12: Sass & Bide

LFW SS 11/12: Roksanda Ilincic

Spring Look

More sunny warm days. More carefree days.

This Spring/Summer I hope to have a little more hair on the top of my head. I think it's time to grow my crop just a little longer. I've just got enough length to do a simple but small braided crown down one side that stops just behind my ear. I'm obsessed with french milkmaid braids at the moment...I smell a comeback thanks to Erdem's S/S 2011 collection.

Note to self: 1) invest in styling products, 2) invest in more colour and lace (you can never have enough!)
What will your spring/summer look be?
